A Three-step process
As has been noted, traditional water treatment solutions rely on excessive chemical additions or dealing with significant fouling on their existing membranes. For that reason these systems tend to be more intensive, with frequent backwashing, leading to unnecessary water loss, increased chemical reliance, higher energy demands, and a heavier maintenance burden.

Biological Water Filtration
Water flows through our high-performance ceramic media colonized by natural bacteria that consume and remove contaminants like iron, manganese, arsenic, ammonia, and H2S before the membrane stage. In fact, this biological filtration is the foundation of BiRO+’s™ efficiency, which extends the downstream membrane life for less waste, and reduced operating costs.

Membrane Filtration
Altogether, fewer contaminants means less fouling, reduced maintenance, and longer equipment lifespan. The membranes polish the water, removing trace impurities to produce both highly purified and biologically stable water.

pH Adjustment and Re-mineralization
Reverse Osmosis (RO) can create slightly acidic water, correspondingly it becomes corrosive and not ideal for distribution or taste. This final step restores pH balance and mineral content, protects infrastructure, and lastly maintains water quality. By fine-tuning only what’s needed, this phase of the decentralized water treatment process avoids costly chemical dosing, contributes to operational efficiency, and abides by regulatory compliance without added waste.
When paired with reverse osmosis, you achieve even better results:
- No sludge residual build-up in the distribution water reservoir
- Reduce chlorine required for disinfection by up to 90% compared to other competitive systems such as manganese greensand filtration
- Biologically remove Fe, Mn, As, and NH3 without chemicals
