Water Purification Media
Filter media for your treatment process.
Not only high performing, but multi-dimensional
What is Filtralite® Pure media?
Designed for drinking water treatment applications, Filtralite® Pure is an advanced filter media suitable for both particle filtration and biological treatment, helping deliver reliable performance across a wide range of operating conditions. Its structure supports effective solids removal while also providing a high contact area for biofilm growth, making it a versatile option for treatment processes where consistent water quality and stable filtration are required.
Compared to traditional filter media, like sand and anthracite, Filtralite® media consistently provides:
- Comparatively, up to 30% more treated water on the same media volume
- Better biological growth due to the multi-dimensional surface area
- Consequently, increased water production, even with old filters
- Return on investment of less than three (3) years
When paired with nano-filtration or reverse osmosis, you achieve even better results:
- No sludge residual build-up in distribution water reservoir
- Reduce chlorine required for disinfection by up to 90% compared to other competitive systems such as manganese greensand filtration
- Biologically remove Fe, Mn, As, and NH3 without chemicals
- Produce stable water which reduces the need for frequent membrane cleaning
- Lower operator requirements and reduced labor costs due to process simplicity and advanced automation
- Does not require chemical regeneration or media replacement
- >10 years of membrane life expectancy
Lastly, a final (and optional) step includes a mineral bed treatment process. During which low pH, RO membrane permeate undergoes adjustments making the final water product non-corrosive. The result is high quality, safe, great tasting drinking water, which meets and exceeds all local and international health standards.

Naturally Superior
Why is our filter media unique?
Our expanded clay ceramic media is produced from natural clay deposits sourced in Norway, selected for both their consistency and suitability for high-performance filtration.
The clay is baked in kilns at up to 1200° C (2192° F), then crushed and carefully sieved into precise grades, creating a durable, lightweight water purification media. This process produces a highly porous structure with a multi-dimensional surface area that supports efficient particle capture and provides a high contact area for biofilm growth, delivering optimal and reliable water purification performance across a wide range of treatment conditions.
Without a doubt, our media is the difference. You certainly need to research and find out how your peers have leveraged Filtralite® for their needs. Want more information? Read some associated case studies here.
Dream even bigger, and upgrade your filter media. Then you can consider turning your undrinkable water in to Bulk Water Dispensing program.

What are the advantages of a Filtralite® Pure in a single/dual filter?
Compared to traditional filter media, Filtralite® has much higher porosity, which gives:
- a lower initial head loss
- slower differential pressure build up
- generally, higher overall particle capture capacity
- backwash waste volume markedly reduced by up to 35% in many applications
Filtralite® Pure operational performance in numbers
Single filters: Time between backwashes can be extended as much as 500% in some systems.
Dual Media Filters: Up to eight (8) times less frequent backwashes in many applications.
Biofilters: Additionally, up to 98% iron removal, 80% manganese removal and 90% ammonia removal.
Existing Filtralite® filters operate from not only 1 gpm/ft2 up to 8 gpm/ft2 for physical filtration, but also up to 13 gpm/ft2 for biofilters.
What are the advantages of Filtralite® Pure in biological filters?
Compared to other filter media, Filtralite® has much higher porosity, which gives:
- high contact area for enhanced biofilm growth
- higher density per unit
- lighter weight
- overall, high durability to increase useful life
- larger biomass volume
Pure Efficiency
FILTRALITE® PURE options
Specifically engineered for high-performance particle filtration and robust biological treatment, our water purification media is designed to deliver consistent, reliable results across demanding operating conditions.
As a result, it is exceptionally well suited for drinking water applications and as an effective first-line solution for desalination pre-treatment, helping reduce turbidity, protect downstream membranes, and support stable, efficient system performance.

Optimized Mix
Get the best mix for ideal treatment production
Filtralite® Pure Mono-Multi combines two types of Filtralite® Pure filter media with different densities and sizes (Filtralite® Pure HC 0.8–1.6 and Filtralite® Pure NC 1.5–2.5) to create a highly effective dual-layer filtration bed. By pairing these complementary grades, the system can further improve filter runs, boost overall production capacity, and enhance operational stability, making it an excellent solution for high-efficiency filtration in drinking water treatment applications.
