Integrated Modular Water Treatment & Storage
Faced with an accelerated delivery schedule, a remote location and winter construction, Sunchild First Nation needed an efficient way to deliver reliable treated-water storage and distribution for a new subdivision. Working with Sunchild First Nation and Associated Engineering, Flowpoint designed and built an integrated modular facility that combines water treatment, disinfection, storage, pumping, controls, and standby power in a single transportable building.
By fabricating the facility simultaneously with the site work, the project team reduced the critical path and minimized complex winter construction at the remote location.

bIOLOGICAL water Treatment Pilot Case Study
BiRO+ Groundwater Treatment Pilot
A Rural Utility needed to determine whether a challenging groundwater source containing elevated iron, manganese, ammonia, sulfate, hardness and total dissolved solids could support a reliable long-term drinking water solution. Working with the project’s engineering consultant, Flowpoint provided a BiRO+ pilot with biological filtration and reverse osmosis and evaluated three operating scenarios under real-world conditions. The final scenario established the hydraulic conditions required for stable biological performance, achieved complete biological removal of contaminants, and substantially reduced manganese and dissolved mineral concentrations.
Despite power interruptions, freezing conditions and biological reseeding during the field program, the final treatment setup delivered stable performance. At the same time, the RO system showed no evidence of significant membrane fouling or scaling.
Application
Groundwater treatment pilot, with biological filtration, for a rural drinking water system serving hundreds of homes passed
Field-Validation
Biological filtration water treatment and reverse osmosis process, achieved > 99% iron & ammonia removal
Pilot Flow
Final biological filtration operating rate of 0.24 L/s (3.8 US GPM)
Treatment Process
Biological filters with reverse osmosis and remineralization for a full-scale groundwater treatment system
Complementary Stages
Divided treatment between complementary process stages, providing for contaminant removal from groundwater
